End-of-Life Doula Support for MAiD in Marin County
In California, Medical Aid in Dying (MAiD) is a legal option for terminally ill people who meet specific requirements. It is a decision that comes with complexity — emotional, logistical, spiritual, and practical.
How I Support MAiD Clients and Families
- Planning and Preparation: Guidance around timing, environment, and coordination with medical providers.
- Creating Sacred Space: Designing a setting that reflects the values, wishes, and spirit of the dying person.
- Presence and Companionship: Sitting at the bedside, holding steady when the moment comes, offering hand, heart, and calm.
- Support for Family and Loved Ones: Helping them understand the process, preparing them for what to expect, and holding space for their grief.
- After-Death Care: Gentle guidance around what happens next, from body care to funeral or memorial planning.
Honoring Choice, Honoring Life
Not every doula chooses to work in this space. I do.
